It is just nineteen short months since Boatshed Dartmouth first opened its doors at Baltic Wharf in Totnes and we are delighted to announce the achievement of £1m worth of sales in a little over a year and a half. The recent sale of a fine Jeanneau 43DS took our sales total to £1,002,080 representing a huge (and above target) achievement in what could be described as a ‘challenging economic climate’.

The reality is, despite all the economic gloom and doom, that secondhand boat sales continue to hold up well and with all the recent successful sales we now find ourselves once again in a situation of needing more boats to satisfy demand. Good boats, well presented will always sell and that is as true now as ever. Particular demand exists for sailing yachts in the 30’-36’ bracket in particular with well known models from Moody, Sadler, Contessa, and Hallberg Rassy.

So what is the secret of Boatshed’s success? Pricing of course needs to be as accurate as possible and that is where Boatshed Dartmouth can help since we have over twelve years worth of sales data held centrally and accessible by all 53 Boatshed offices. With currently 2369 boats for sale across the group (making Boatshed the largest brokerage group) and thousands that have sold in 12 years we have access to one of the largest active databases documenting both asking and sales prices.

However the most important factor in Boatshed’s success is the very highly detailed listings and up to 80 photographs, that helps potential buyers choose which boats to view in greater detail. In all the feedback we receive, time and again customers thank us for providing such highly detailed and consistent specifications with honest brokers comments about each and every boat. All our viewings are accompanied by us and our average number of physical viewings per sale is around 2.2 - so clearly this works.

If you are thinking about selling please give us a call on 01803 867578 to discuss how Boatshed Dartmouth can help sell your boat in Dartmouth or Salcombe. We have options and offers on storage ashore for the winter including offers in the dedicated sales area at Baltic Wharf boatyard and a new undercover storage facility that opens soon at Frogmore Boatyard near Kingsbridge. We very much look forward to helping you buy or sell your next boat and join with us in celebrating the next million!
