Broker's Comments

This VQ 32 is a truly beautifully built solo or short handed race boat. Drawn by renowned solo yacht racer and designer Dick Koopmans, hand built in the Netherlands by Vels in 2009 she has been maintained to the highest degree .

A joy to helm on all points of sail - she is fast in light and heavy winds. Her strongest points are
upwind (in all airs), downwind in the light she will sail around much larger boats and in heavy airs she has planed up to 18 kts.

Completed full IRC measurement in June 2019 (just before sailing over to the UK from Newport RI) enabling an Endorsed certificate. She was measured to get accurate data to enable an IRC rating review - she has been rated by IRC between 1.024 and 1.047 . She is very competitive under PHRF, ORR, and is rated a little high under IRC for a 32 boat. As a reference in light and heavy airs she is quicker upwind than a J105/9 -downwind in the light quite a bit quicker, and deep downwind in strong airs she is over a knot faster. Her results record includes -
Winner of the 2013 OSTAR Racing Division. Winner solo and double handed Trans Superior Yacht Race. Winner 2018 International Yacht Race USA to Canada. Winner 2018 Bayfield Race Week, 2018 Solo & Double handed championship and 2018 Fall Regatta. 2019 - 2nd in class 1 Newport / Bermuda solo yacht race.

We have lots more information to give you, including access to her 2016 survey report so please get in touch and ask questions. Her owner is selling due to a move inland and change of direction however requests for a full handover and knowledge transfer will be welcomed
