Life is not all plain sailing for some children...

I met Steve and Kaz at the Southampton Boatshow 2015 during 'fizz@five' when Jeanne Socrates (oldest woman to sail solo around the world non-stop) popped over to see us and bring her inspiring friends along to our stand. Steve Pointon a Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer is setting sail to circumnavigate the UK in his boat 'Tikka' with the aim to raise £10,000 and awareness of the work of Action for Children, a charity which works in local communities across the UK to make disadvantaged children's lives better.

We adopted Harry when he was 6. He had a difficult start in life and we’re delighted to have been able to offer him a loving and caring home that he needs. We would like to see all children in our country have a better chance in life which is why we chose Action for Children. It’s a national charity that is passionate about helping vulnerable children and young people and we hope to raise a lot of money and raise awareness of the great work they do.

Kay Pointon

Boatshed Portsmouth were privileged to be invited to the launch party of the circumnavigation at the Hornet Sailing Club in Gosport on 3rd June.
We enjoyed a BBQ hosted by the club and a disco from The Dr Love Vinyl Revival, full technicolor sound and vision experience, sound-tracked by all forms of music spanning the first vinyl era (1948-1998).

He only plays vinyl it was brilliant!
